INT. ROCKLAND CONSTRUCTION - DAY

Eve is working at her desk when Manny gets off the Elevator and walks over to her.

MANNY

Hi.  Is Caroline in?

EVE

I’m afraid not.  She just went into a meeting.

MANNY

Okay.  I was in the neighborhood so I thought I’d stop by to see if she was free.  Can you tell her I was here?

EVE

Of course.  Hey Manny, before you go.  Could I talk to you about something?

MANNY

Uh, sure.  What is it?

EVE
I’m not sure if you’re aware of this or not, but I was staying with my son, Brian, and Angela Gives at her house for a while.

MANNY

Well, I knew about Brian, but not about you.  But what does that have to do with me?

EVE

Actually, a lot.  Just between us, I don’t get the sense that the two of them are very happy.

MANNY

If they’re not happy, why would they move in together?

EVE

Well, Brian took a job in Rockland and it was convenient for them.  But they moved in together way too fast and now they’re engaged. I’ve overheard some of their fights when they think I’m not listening.

MANNY

They’re fighting?

EVE

Yes.  And just about every night.

MANNY

I’m sorry to hear that.  But it’s not really any of my business.

EVE

Manny, I would be the last person to interfere in my son’s life or in Angela’s, but I get the feeling that you may be one of the problems.

MANNY

Me?  I’ve tried to keep my distance from Angela.

EVE

I know.  But I’m not sure Brian is convinced she’s over you, and I’ve gotten that same feeling myself.

MANNY

Look, Angela has made it perfectly clear she’s not even interested in a friendship with me.

EVE

That’s just her hurt feelings talking.  If you still have any feelings for her at all, you should go see her.  Tell her how you feel before she walks down the aisle with my son.  You might be surprised at her reaction.
