is working at her desk when DANTE walks into the office.
DANTE
Mrs.
Morgan, is my Aunt Caroline back from her trip yet?
EVE
She
just arrived an hour ago. But she’s very
busy. She doesn’t have time to see you today,
Dante.
DANTE
Like
hell she doesn’t.
Dante
barges into Caroline’s office.
EVE
Hey,
wait you!
DANTE
Caroline! I’m so glad you’re back.
CAROLINE
Dante. What’s wrong?
DANTE
Haven’t
you heard the news? My father really
isn’t my father. I’m adopted.
CAROLINE
Dante…
DANTE
And
you must have known about this. Look,
Caroline. My father refuses to tell me
anything and I’m convinced he knows who my biological parents are. Does that mean you know too? If you do, you have to tell me.
CAROLINE
Dante,
I had a voicemail from your father about this, but I haven’t spoken with
him. So this all came out at Miranda
Phillips’ trial?
DANTE
There’s
no need for a recap, Caroline. You and
my father have been keeping this secret from me for all these years. How could you do that?
CAROLINE
Look,
I always planned on telling you the truth some day. But your father was dead set against it. One of the last things Julia said to me
before she died was that if anything ever happened to her, to take care of
you. Be there for you.
DANTE
And
you honored my mother’s wishes by lying to me?
CAROLINE
I’ve
never lied to you, Dante. I only
withheld the truth because I didn’t want to make things worse between you and
your father.
DANTE
So
you would rather protect him, a man you despise, more than me?
CAROLINE
It’s
not like that. I love you, and you know
that. But I didn’t know anything about
your biological parents and I knew you would be full of questions.
DANTE
You’re
telling me you don’t know who my real parents are?
CAROLINE
Well,
I didn’t know until last year. But I do
know now. At least about who your father is.
DANTE
Then
spill it. Who is he? Where is he?
CAROLINE
I
hope I’m not making a mistake here. Your
father is not going to be happy about this.
DANTE
Forget
about him. Tell me the truth dammit!
CAROLINE
Dante,
your father is Dan Levin.
DANTE
What?! Dan Levin?
Dad’s step-brother?
CAROLINE
Yes. He’s currently a patient at the
DANTE
Oh
please. He was willing to let Miranda
Phillips blackmail him forever rather than tell me the truth. Even after she tried to run
you over in her car.
CAROLINE
Hey,
I don’t like Paul anymore now than I ever have.
But he has been as good a father as he could be to you.
DANTE
And
you don’t know who my biological mother was?
CAROLINE
No. And neither does Dan as far as I know. He had blocked out the memory of Julia
telling him about this until last year.
DANTE
Oh
my God. If Dan Levin is my father, then
Ashley Thompson is my SISTER?
CAROLINE
Half-sister. And Ian Levin is your
half-brother.
DANTE
I
have to get out of here.
CAROLINE
Dante,
wait. Where are you going?
DANTE
Where
do you think? To see
my new Daddy.
