INT. APPLEBEES IN SUFFERN - NIGHT

FELICIA and KAREN are sitting at the bar having drinks.

KAREN

Felicia, I wasn’t looking for company so if you don’t mind…

FELICIA

Don’t flatter yourself girl, this was the only seat in this whole damn place.

KAREN

I heard what you did to Damien Givens and how you blackmailed Barbara Whitman.

FELICIA

(sarcastically)

Yeah, I guess I’m a pretty horrible person, unlike you, who is a pillar of the community.

KAREN

Just because we’re sitting next to each other doesn’t mean we have to talk.

FELICIA

You spoke to me first.  But for the record, I’m aware of your little stalking incident with Angela, so don’t get all high and mighty on me, girl.

KAREN

Fine.  We’ve both made mistakes.  Let’s just call it even.

FELICIA

Sure.  Whatever.  So what are you watching so intensely on TV?

KAREN

It’s Big Brother All-Stars.  Not that I can hear it, but I had nothing to eat at my apartment so I decided to grab a bite to eat and I couldn’t help checking out what’s going on.

FELICIA

What’s up with all these reality shows?  Why do people put themselves through all that on national TV?

KAREN

I don’t know.  It’s not for me, but I could see that it could be fun.

FELICIA

I’ve heard about that show.  If that was me on there, I would win the whole damn thing.

KAREN

You think so?

FELICIA

I’m a winner, Karen.  Look at me.

KAREN

Whatever you say, Felicia.  So where are you working now?

FELICIA

I’m still at Rockland Construction.  I’m answering phones and keeping things running at the job sites.

KAREN

Great.

FELICIA

Look, Karen.  It seems like you and I have both have a pretty tough year.  I guess there’s no reason for us to be enemies.  I’m sorry if I came down on you too hard before.

KAREN

Thanks.  And, don’t worry about it.

INT. RAMOS ESTATE - NIGHT

DANTE is in his bedroom talking with ASHLEY.

DANTE

I had it out with my father right before you got here.  He hired Elijah Phillips to a junior management position while he’s letting his own son rot away in the mail room.

ASHLEY

I find that so hard to believe.  From what I know about the both of you, you seem so much smarter and more together than Elijah.  Why is he doing this to you?

DANTE

I don’t know.  I think he’s trying to teach me a lesson about hard work.  But if he really expects me to run his company someday, he needs to let me get hands on experience.  And not in the mail room.

ASHLEY

I totally agree.

DANTE

And you haven’t even heard the latest.  He thinks you and I shouldn’t spend time together because of our family history.

ASHELY

What?!  But you and I are just friends.  And besides, our fathers were only related by marriage.  And I don’t consider Dan Levin (lev-in) to be my father anyway.  What is his problem?

DANTE

I don’t know.  Just be warned.  Hopefully you won’t have to see him tonight.

Paul knocks and walks in.

PAUL

Dante, about earlier.  Oh, hi Ashley.

DANTE

Dad, I’ve said all I need to say about Elijah Phillips.  I’m not on the clock right now so don’t even think about coming in here and telling me what to do.

PAUL

Don’t worry, son.  I’ll leave you alone.  But remember what I told you.

Paul leaves.

ASHLEY

Did you see that look he gave me?  Did I do something wrong?

DANTE

No, you haven’t.  And you’re welcome here any time.  To hell with my father.
