INT. ANGELA’S HOUSE IN NYACK - DAY

BRIAN has just stumbled out of bed and into the living room where EVE is watching television.

EVE

(yelling at the TV)

Oh come on.  How can you bid that much for that piece of garbage?!!

BRIAN

Mom?  What are you doing?

EVE

I’m watching “The Price is Right”.  Hello!  Bob Barker?  The wheel?

BRIAN

I can see what it is, but why are you here?  Why aren’t you at work?

EVE

Well, I called Caroline and told her about my little problem and she gave me the day off.  With pay.  Wasn’t that sweet of her?

BRIAN

Well, yeah, but shouldn’t you be out looking for new place to live?  Or better yet, on your way back to Vermont?

EVE

Brian, I told you, I’m not going back there.  I’d rather live on the streets that live in that trailer again, especially after living in the palatial Ramos (ray-mos) guest house.

BRIAN

Okay, suit yourself.

EVE

So, what?  Are you actually going to let me live on the street?

BRIAN

It’s not my problem, Mom.  It’s yours.

EVE

Why you little ingrate.  I put a roof on your head growing up and think I deserve a little more respect from you now that I’m getting.

BRIAN

What is it you want, Mom?  You certainly can’t stay here.

EVE

Why not?  Angela has an extra bedroom.  And it would just be temporary.

BRIAN

Look, Angela and I haven’t been living together for very long.  We’re still getting used to each other.  Having a houseguest right now just won’t work.  And definitely not you.

EVE

Brian, all I’m asking for is a few days.  Surely you can put your poor old mother up for a few days.

BRIAN

Mom, it’s not my house.  So even if I thought it was a good idea, and I don’t, it’s not my decision to make.

EVE

But you’ll talk to Angela for me?  Oh thank you, Brian.  This means the world to me.

BRIAN

Ugh.  Just keep it down, Mom.  I’m going back to bed.  I’ve had a long few days at the hospital.

EVE

Okay son.  Whatever you say.

Brian walks back into the bedroom.

EVE

(to herself)

Good.  And  hopefully break you and Angela up while I’m here.  She is SO wrong for you.

INT. SUTTER’S MILL - DAY

DAMIEN is working at the bar when BARBARA walks up.

BARBARA

Hi there.

DAMIEN

Barbara, hi.  It’s good to see you.

BARBARA

Damien, I need a favor.  I need you to talk to Dante for me and convince him to talk to Paul.

DAMIEN

Talk to Paul about what?

BARBARA

If Dante tells Paul that what you and I shared meant nothing and that I really love him, maybe he’ll believe it.  He won’t even talk to me now.

DAMIEN

(laughs)

You really have a lot of nerve, don’t you?

BARBARA

I’m only asking you for this one tiny little favor, what’s the big deal?

DAMIEN

Do you have such little regard for my feelings that you can’t see how this little favor makes me feel?  You never gave a damn about me, did you?  It was all about the sex.

BARBARA

There are worse things in life than sex, Damien.

Felicia walks up.

FELICIA

Well, well.  Don’t tell me you two love birds have reunited?  Oh Barbara, how the mighty have fallen.  You’ve gone from living at the Ramos estate to chasing after the bartender at Sutter’s Mill.  If I didn’t hate you so much, I’d almost feel sorry for you.

BARBARA

Get out of my face, Felicia.  If it wasn’t for you and your blackmail scheme, Paul might not have ever found out about Damien and me.

FELICIA

Oh please.  I wasn’t even in New York when your dirty little secrets came to light.  Not that I wouldn’t love to take credit for your misery.

DAMIEN

What do you want, Felicia?

FELICIA

Nothing from you.  Fool.  My car was overheating and I stopped to call a garage.  My cell phone is dead.

DAMIEN

Well, the pay phone is over there.

FELICIA

You’re not even going to let me use the phone behind the bar?

DAMIEN

It’s not my problem, Felicia.

FELICIA

Why you…

BARBARA

Hmmm, I guess your life isn’t a bed of roses either, is it honey?  Damien, I have to go.  Think about what I said.

DAMIEN

Forget it, Barbara.

Barbara leaves.

FELICIA

From the look on your face, I think you’re finally seeing the light about that woman.

DAMIEN

Just make your call, Felicia.  And then leave.
