and ELIJAH have just entered the empty apartment.
ELIJAH
I
don’t mean to pressure you, Arden, but the landlord told me that he needs our
decision today.
I
know. I’m sorry I’ve been so wishy-washy
about this.
ELIJAH
So
what’s it going to be? Do you want move
in here with me or not?
Well,
I’ve thought a lot about it, and I don’t think I could come up with a better
place or situation on my own. So I’m in.
ELIJAH
Oh,
I
hope you’re right.
ELIJAH
Although
I’m sure Dante is not going to be happy about this.
No,
he probably won’t, but it’s my life and this was a decision I needed to make on
my own.
ANGELA
is talking with CAROLINE at the bar.
CAROLINE
How
are things at the hospital, Angela?
ANGELA
Oh,
I don’t know. Things are strained with
Karen so that’s awkward. But Brian is in
CAROLINE
Not
too much. My life is all about Rockland
Construction.
ANGELA
Caroline,
you have to have a life outside your job.
CAROLINE
Is
that your professional opinion?
ANGELA
It’s
my opinion as a woman and a person. All
work and no play is not very fun. I tried it after Manny left town and it
didn’t work for me.
CAROLINE
Speaking
of Manny, have you seen him lately?
ANGELA
No. Why?
CAROLINE
Well,
I stopped by his place the other night and he was acting very strange. He wouldn’t even let me inside.
ANGELA
That’s
odd. What do you think was going on?
CAROLINE
I’m
not sure. It almost seemed like there
was someone in there, he didn’t want me to see.
Manny
walks up.
MANNY
Hello
ladies. How are you two doing today?
ANGELA
We
were just talking about you? Were your
ears burning?
MANNY
No,
but you have me curious. Why was I the
topic of conversation?
CAROLINE
I
was telling Angela about my visit to your apartment when you wouldn’t let me
in. It seemed like you had someone in
there with you.
MANNY
Oh. That was nothing Caroline. I was all alone as usual. But it’s nice to know the two of you care.
ANGELA
I
can’t speak for Caroline, but trust me, I don’t.
CYRUS,
KAREN and IAN are talking at the nurse’s station.
KAREN
Look
you guys, I’m going to the group therapy room to check
on Dan Levin.
IAN
Wait
a minute, Dan is in the group room?!! I thought he wasn’t allowed to go in there
with the other patients.
KAREN
Well,
he wasn’t until today. Apparently Angela
had some kind of breakthrough with Dan and he’s finally making progress.
IAN
That’s
great!
KAREN
Ian,
why are you so interested in Dan Levin anyway?
IAN
Oh,
no reason. I’m just happy for the guy,
that’s all.
KAREN
O-kay. I’ll see you guys later.
Karen
walks away.
IAN
Cyrus,
isn’t this the best news? With Dan in
the group room, I can go talk to him now.
CYRUS
Are
you sure you want to do that? If Dr.
Givens finds out you’re Dan’s son, she’ll probably have you fired.
IAN
Look,
the main reason I took this internship was to try and learn more about my
father. And now that I finally have a
chance to see him, I can’t let it pass me by.
CYRUS
Alright. But be careful.
IAN
I
will. And it’s really sweet of you to
care so much.
CYRUS
Well,
I do care if you haven’t noticed.
IAN
So
do I.
Ian
gives Cyrus a quick kiss on the cheek.
CYRUS
Hey,
not at the hospital!
IAN
I
couldn’t resist. You’re just too cute.
CYRUS
Thanks. So when are you going to see Dan?
IAN
Now. There’s no time like the
present, right? I finally get to see my
father!
PAUL
is sitting at his desk talking on the phone with the Private Investigator he
hired.
PAUL
You
cannot be serious. Ashley Thompson is
Dan Levin’s daughter?....Yes, I know him, he’s my step
brother. Look, I have to go, I need to go talk to my son. Thanks for the information. The check is in the mail.
Paul
hangs up.
PAUL
(to himself)
I
better go find Dante.
Paul
stands up and is about to leave when Barbara walks in.
BARBARA
Hello
Paul.
PAUL
Barbara,
how the hell did you get in the building?
BARBARA
The front door. So where are you off to in
such a hurry?
PAUL
I
have some urgent business to attend to, not that it’s any of your concern. So if you’ll excuse me.
BARBARA
No,
Paul. I won’t. You and I need to talk.
