DANTE
is sorting through the mail when
Hey
there.
DANTE
Of
course I am. I’ve just been very
sensitive about Barbara since the wedding.
DANTE
I
know. And I’m so sorry I even asked you
if knew about her affair with Damien.
I’m such an idiot for saying that.
It’s
alright. Let’s just forget about it.
DANTE
Good
idea.
So
look, I stopped by because there was something I wanted to talk to you
about. Do you have a minute?
DANTE
Sure. To hell with this damn mail. What is it?
Well,
I was in Suffern this morning looking at a potential apartment. It’s by the train station which isn’t ideal,
but it’s cheap and big and I think it would be perfect.
DANTE
That’s
awesome. You know I would love for you
to stay in the guest house forever, but I want you to do what you think is
right.
I’m
glad you said that. Because
there’s a catch. The apartment is
a two bedroom, so I would need a roommate.
DANTE
Oh. Does that mean you’ll have to move with your
mother after all?
No. I actually have a friend who is also looking
for a place.
DANTE
Someone at work? It sounds like you have it
all figured out.
Dante,
it’s Elijah.
Elijah Phillips.
DANTE
Whoa,
come again? Little chip on his shoulder
Eli? The guy who hates me Eli? You can not be serious,
Dante,
I figured you would feel like that, but look, Elijah has been a good friend to
me. He even helped me look for Aunt
Barbara, and…
DANTE
Please. Don’t give me a laundry list of ways that
Elijah Phillips is such a true friend to you.
You can’t move in with that guy, Arden.
You just can’t.
ELIJAH
is talking with MIRANDA in the kitchen.
ELIJAH
Mom,
you have completely blown my mind here.
You told Paul that you’re in love with him? And he had no problem with it?
MIRANDA
Oh,
he wanted to pretend like the conversation never happened, but I wouldn’t let
that happen.
ELIJAH
You
don’t want to mess with the man, Mom. As
much as he appreciates what you do around here, he probably wouldn’t hesitate
to fire you if things got too weird.
MIRANDA
Well,
he tried do that already. But I didn’t
let him.
ELIJAH
What
do you mean?
MIRANDA
Let’s
just say that Paul and I came to an understanding and I won’t have to worry
about my job any time soon.
Paul
walks in.
PAUL
Oh,
hello there.
MIRANDA
Why
hello Paul. I didn’t realize you were
home.
PAUL
I
took off a little early today. I thought
I heard your voice, Elijah. Could I have
a word with you? Privately?
ELIJAH
Sure.
MIRANDA
Why
don’t I leave you two alone? Bye Paul.
Miranda
walks out.
ELIJAH
Paul,
if this is about my mother…
PAUL
No,
it’s not. Your mother is the last thing I
want to talk about, Elijah. I actually
wanted to find out what you know about Dante and
ELIJAH
I’ve
met Ashley, yes. But I don’t know her
that well. Why are you asking?
PAUL
She’s
been spending an awful lot of time with Dante lately. And for some reason, I don’t get the best
feeling for that girl. Do you know
anything about her that might back up that gut feeling of mine?
ELIJAH
Me? No.
Like I said, I hardly know her.
She seems like a perfectly sweet girl to me.
ANGELA
is having a session with DAN and has just put him under hypnosis.
ANGELA
Okay,
Dan. Just relax and think back to the
night that Julia Ramos died. You went
upstairs and you were having a conversation with Julia. Do you remember that?
DAN
Yes. She looked beautiful. Her hair was pulled back the way I always
liked it.
ANGELA
Good. And do you remember what the two of you were
talking about?
DAN
She
has something to tell me. Something that will change everything.
ANGELA
What
does she tell you Dan? Picture her face
and try to remember the words she said.
DAN
It’s
all a blur. I don’t know.
ANGELA
Think,
Dan. You’re almost there. What did Julia say to you after she told you
it would change everything?
DAN
I
can see her face (struggling to remember) but I can’t hear her.
ANGELA
It
must have been very important for her to call you to her room to talk about it.
DAN
“He’s
your son, Dan. He’s your son.”
ANGELA
(confused)
Who’s
your son? Is that what Julia said to
you? What was she talking about?
DAN
“Dante
is your son. We have to tell Paul.” That’s it.
She was telling me Dante was my son!
