EVE
Good morning,
children.
BRIAN
Ugh, this is
not the way I wanted to start this day.
EVE
It’s so nice
to be in this big family house with my two adoring kids.
Oh, please,
Mom.
BRIAN
Mom, when are
you going to find some place else to stay?
EVE
I had no
other place to go, Brian.
BRIAN
You have a
home in
EVE
That trailer
is falling apart. I can’t go back there
and deal with Cliff and a stack of bills.
I need a fresh start, just like
Mom, Brian’s
right. You should go back to
EVE
Maybe I
should trying waiting tables with you at Sutter’s Mill?
Oh God,
please don’t.
BRIAN
Look, I’m
going to shower and head over to the hospital to see Angela.
Hey, any
time, Bri.
ANGELA is
sitting at her desk when KAREN and CYRUS walk into her office.
KAREN
Angela, where
have you been all night?
ANGELA
Karen,
hi. I had a late night with Damien. I stopped by Sutter’s Mill and then ended up
sticking around until his shift ended.
We went to see Jarhead at the mall.
KAREN
I kept
calling your cell phone, and you didn’t answer.
ANGELA
Yeah, I just
realized this morning that my battery is completely dead. It won’t even charge. So what’s up? What’s so urgent?
KAREN
Something
happened here last night, at the hospital.
And Cyrus saw the whole thing.
ANGELA
Was there a
problem with one of the patients?
CYRUS
Dr. Givens, I
saw your boyfriend, Brian, getting physical with Karen last night.
ANGELA
What?! What are you talking about?
KAREN
Angela, Brian
stopped by here, I guess to confront me about telling you what happened between
us at dinner the other night. He was
angry that I mentioned it to you.
ANGELA
I saw Brian
yesterday and he completely denied it Karen.
He was totally blown away when I told him.
CYRUS
All I know is
that I walked up and saw him giving Karen a hard time. I came over and asked him to leave.
ANGELA
No. I must be missing something here. Brian said he was going to talk to you about
this, but he wouldn’t get angry, or “physical” with
you. What did he do?
KAREN
He just kept
telling me I was lying and I asked him to leave but he wouldn’t.
ANGELA
Cyrus, you
saw this?
CYRUS
I walked up
at the end, but yeah, Karen was very upset when I arrived.
ANGELA
There has to
be more to this story than you’re telling me.
KAREN
I’m sorry,
Angela. I didn’t want to upset you, but
I couldn’t keep this to myself.
ANGELA
Don’t worry,
Karen. I’m going to get to the bottom of
this.
