just entered ANGELA’S office.
KAREN
Happy
Halloween.
ANGELA
Yes, it is
happy. I think I’m happier than I’ve
been in a long time, maybe ever.
KAREN
And is this
all because of Brian?
ANGELA
Of
course. I’m sorry I was so late joining you guys at
Sutter’s Mill. But at least you got a
chance to get to know him better. So
what did you think? Isn’t he a doll?
KAREN
(not so convincingly)
He’s
definitely a nice guy.
ANGELA
That wasn’t
very convincing, Karen. Did something
happen?
KAREN
Angela, you
like the guy and that’s all that matters.
ANGELA
Well, yeah,
but you’re my best friend and I want to know what you think. Spill it!
KAREN
Look, I
didn’t want to tell you this, but...
Brian was getting a little “too” cozy with me if you know what I mean.
ANGELA
No, I
don’t. Maybe you can spell it out for
me.
KAREN
I may be way
off, Angela, but it seemed like the guy was hitting on me.
ANGELA
Oh, come on.
KAREN
Is that so
hard to believe? That a good looking man
who make a pass at me?
ANGELA
Of course
not, Karen, but you must’ve had your signals mixed up with Brian or something.
KAREN
Okay. Maybe you’re right.
ARDEN and
DANTE are talking in the living room.
My legs are
killing me. I had no idea how hard
waiting tables was going to be. I guess
I should just be grateful they hired me with no experience.
DANTE
Damien’s been
there a while. He put in a good word for
you which helped.
I really like
Damien. I think everyone at Sutter’s
Mill I’ve work with so far.
DANTE
Cool.
They hear a
knock on the door.
DANTE
Now who could
that be?
Does anyone
know we’re here?
DANTE
No.
Dante opens
the door and finds Eve standing there.
EVE
Hello, Dante.
DANTE
Mrs.
Morgan. Hi.
Mom! What are you doing here? How did you find me in
EVE
One of the
nurse’s at your brother’s hospital has loose lips. And I didn’t have any trouble finding the
place since I’ve already been out here to visit your Auntie Barbara.
You’ve been
here before?
EVE
Yes. You know how close Barbara and I were at one
time, we just had to catch up on a little girl talk.
The two of
you hated each other, Mom. But what are
you doing here now?
EVE
I need a place
to stay,
ANGELA is
working at her desk when KAREN runs into her office.
KAREN
Angela, oh my
God!!!!!!!!!
ANGELA
Karen, what is
it? What’s wrong?
KAREN
You won’t
believe this.
ANGELA
Spit it
out. What happened?!
KAREN
I just found
a note with MY name on it left at the nurse’s station.
ANGELA
Who’s it
from?
KAREN
That’s just
it, Angela. It doesn’t say. It’s just signed, “your
Beloved”.
ANGELA
What!!!!! That’s exactly how my secret admirer letters
were signed.
KAREN
I know. Who could be doing this?
ANGELA
It has to be
someone at the hospital if they’ve written letters to both you and me.
KAREN
Maybe you’re
right… (gasps) Wait a minute. Angela, after what happened last night with
Brian, do you think…
ANGELA
Karen, you
can’t be serious.
KAREN
Angela, I
JUST had dinner with Brian and now I got a note. Your notes started right after you met him
too.
ANGELA
It’s not
Brian. He wouldn’t do that.
KAREN
Are you sure
about that? How well do you really know
him, Angela? How can you be so sure?
