were going out of town with Barbara.
PAUL
Our plans
changed. Barbara, this is Dante’s friend, Arden.
BARBARA

(not happy she is pretending not to know
Barbara!

BARBARA
Uh, Paul, do
you realize who this is?
PAUL
I just told
you, it’s Dante’s friend.
BARBARA
No, she’s
someone much more important than that.
This is my niece, Arden.
PAUL
Your
niece?! I vaguely remember you mentioning a niece to
me.
BARBARA
Well, this is
the one and only.
My car broke
down and Dante rescued me.
PAUL
So what
exactly is going on here? Barbara, did
you know
BARBARA
Well, I knew
she was in town, but I guess I didn’t make the connection either. What a small, world, huh?
DANTE
(Sarcastically
because Barbara is still lying)

what a funny coincidence.
PAUL
Well,
Oh, you don’t
have to do anything special for me.
PAUL
Of course we
do. But first, Barbara and I have some
news that both of you might be interested in.
BARBARA
We’re
engaged!
(gasps)
Oh, Aunt
Barbara, congratulations.
BARBARA

PAUL
Son?
Aren’t you going to congratulate me?
DANTE
Yeah,
congratulations, Dad.
CAROLINE is
talking to LAURENCE outside the building.
CAROLINE
It’s strange
to be looking at our own offices as a construction site instead of one of our
contracts.
LAURENCE
The
renovations on Rockland Construction should be finished on schedule next week.
CAROLINE
It’s nice to
hear the words “on schedule”. It’s so
rare these days. Now if we can just
finish under budget I’d really be a happy camper.
LAURENCE
That’s not
really my area, Ms. Hart.
CAROLINE
I understand. Laurence, I’m glad I ran into you. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about
your leadership on this project. Keep up
the good work.
LAURENCE
I appreciate
you saying that.
Manny walks

MANNY
Caroline. I was on my way in to see you. I didn’t expect to see you outside.
CAROLINE
I was just
admiring the new office space from the outside.
MANNY
