ROCKLAND COUNTY – EPISODE #25 – AUGUST 24, 2005 “TROUBLE BREWING”

WRITTEN BY ROGER NEWCOMB

INT. SUTTER’S MILL - DAY

ARDEN and DANTE are having lunch.

DANTE

I can’t believe your Mom showed up here.  And so soon after we left Vermont.

ARDEN

Neither can I.  If she knows where Brian lives then what’s to stop her from coming by any time she wants.

DANTE

Well, maybe you shouldn’t stay there then.

ARDEN

Brian’s apartment is the only place I have to go.  And I have to find a job so I can start to pay you back for all you’ve done for me.  And eventually get my own apartment.

DANTE

Arden, why don’t you come stay at my father’s guest house?  Free of charge.

ARDEN

Dante, I can’t do that.  You’ve done way too much for me already, and it just wouldn’t be right.

DANTE

It’s up to you, but I wanted to toss it out there as an option.  But if I were you, I would consider Rockland County as an alternative place to live.  It’s going to be hard for you to save up enough to get a place in the city.  It’s so expensive to live there.

ARDEN

Well, you may be right, and my Aunt Barbara is here in Rockland.

DANTE

I haven’t seen Barbara since I got back.  I want to talk to her about my father and what’s going on with her.

ARDEN

Dante, whatever she’s doing, I’m sure she has the best of intentions.

DANTE

I hope so.

ARDEN

You know, I was lying on Brian’s couch last night thinking about the past couple of months and how much you’ve done for me.  Why did you do it, Dante?  Why did you spend so much of your time and money helping me?

DANTE

Arden, I think it’s pretty obvious, but if you want me to spell it out for you.

Damien walks up and sits down.

DAMIEN

Hey you guys.  Hope I’m not interrupting.

DANTE

Actually…

ARDEN

Hi Damien.  How are you?

DAMIEN

I’m alright.  I’ve been better.

DANTE

Damien here is having some love trouble, but he refuses to talk about it.

ARDEN

Aww, Damien.  If you need a woman’s perspective, you’re welcome to bend my ear for a while.

DAMIEN

No, it’s nothing I want to talk about.  But thanks.

INT. DR. ANGELA GIVENS OFFICE - DAY

BRIAN has just arrived to see ANGELA.

ANGELA

Let me tell you, you are a sight for sore eyes.

BRIAN

Had a long day?

ANGELA

You could say that.

BRIAN

Anything you want to talk about?

ANGELA

Well, I haven’t said anything about this to you so far, but I think it’s time I did.  I have a secret admirer.

BRIAN

A secret admirer?  What does that mean?

ANGELA

Well, I’ve been getting anonymous notes for a while now and I thought maybe it was harmless at first, but it’s starting to get a bit creepy.

BRIAN

In what way?

ANGELA

Whoever this guy is has been at my house.  The last note was left on my doorstep and a pot was broken on my porch while he was running away.

BRIAN

Oh my God, you’re kidding.  What else has he done?

ANGELA

Well, I’ve had notes on my desk at work and flowers.  The creepiest part is this guy knows where I live.  That means it has to be someone I know.

BRIAN

Not necessarily.

ANGELA

What do you mean?  Only my friends and family have my address.  The only other possibility is someone hacked into my records here at the hospital.  But who?

BRIAN

Angela, that’s not the only way someone could find out where you live.  I mean, I knew right away.

ANGELA

You did?  What are you talking about?

BRIAN

Well, when we first met, I was online and I typed in your name and Nyack on Google, and your entire address and phone number came up.

ANGELA

You’re kidding.  You’ve known my address this entire time?

BRIAN

Well, yes.  And I’m still waiting for an invitation to see your place.

ANGELA

Brian, I immediately ruled you out because you didn’t know where I lived when I first got the flowers at my house.  But you did know.

BRIAN

What are you saying, Angela?  You think I’m sending you anonymous love letters?  Why would I do that?

ANGELA

I didn’t say that.  I’m just freaked out about all this right now.

BRIAN

You know what, I think I should be going.

ANGELA

But I thought we were going to have a late lunch today.

BRIAN

I’m sorry.  But I’m not really in the mood for lunch anymore.  Goodbye, Angela.

Brian walks out.

ANGELA

Ugh.  Now what.

INT. DAMIEN’S APARTMENT - DAY

BARBARA has just arrived to see an excited DAMIEN.

DAMIEN

Babe, it’s so good to see you.  I knew you would change your mind about us.

BARBARA

I haven’t changed my mind, Damien.

DAMIEN

(Disappointed)

Oh.

BARBARA

I’m here to find out if you know someone named Felicia.  She stopped by the house looking for me and I wasn’t home.  If you would answer your phone maybe I wouldn’t have had to come all the way over here.

DAMIEN

Felicia went to Paul’s house?  Why?

BARBARA

I wasn’t there, but she told our housekeeper that she would be in touch with me and that she was an old friend of yours.  What’s this all about, Damien?

DAMIEN

Oh God, Barbara, I’m so sorry.  I don’t know bow she figured out it was you.

BARBARA

Could you fill me in here?  Who is this woman?

DAMIEN

Felicia is my ex.  And she’s a whole lot of trouble.

BARBARA

Ugh.  And just why did she show up on my door step?

DAMIEN

I don’t know, Barbara, but trust me, that woman was not there to be anything but difficult.

BARBARA

What are you saying, Damien?

DAMIEN

I’m saying you better stay away from her.  Avoid her at all costs.
