ANGELA is
talking with CYRUS about his secret crush.
CYRUS
I wasn’t sure
how Damien would take it, so I never gave it to him. I didn’t mean to upset you.
ANGELA
Damien!!!!!!!!
CYRUS
Wait, you
said you knew.
ANGELA
Cyrus, I
thought your secret crush was on me.
I’ve been receiving anonymous love letters and I called you into my
office today to confront you.
CYRUS
You thought I
had a crush on you? Dr. Givens, I think
you’re wonderful, but I don’t think of you in that way.
ANGELA
Oh my God,
I’m so embarrassed. Cyrus, I’m
sorry. I don’t know what to say.
CYRUS
Dr. Givens,
I’m embarrassed too. I just told you
that I have a crush on your brother. I
didn’t want anyone to know about that.
ANGELA
Cyrus, just
so you know. Damien is very much
straight. I mean, he’s an open minded
guy and all, but I don’t think you’re going to get the response from him that
you may be hoping for.
CYRUS
I had a
feeling about that after the other night at Sutter’s Mill.
ANGELA
Why? What happened?
CYRUS
A woman came
in to talk to him, and they went into the back.
When they came out, he seemed upset.
I figure she was his girlfriend and they had some kind of fight.
ANGELA
Damien has
been seeing someone for a while now, but it’s been kind of hush, hush. Do you remember what this woman looked like?
CYRUS
Well, she had
red hair. Was a bit
older than him. I think he called
her Barbara.
ANGELA
Hmmm.
Red hair?
Older? (gasps) No!! It can’t
be. Barbara Whitman?
MANNY
walks up to the nurse’s station where KAREN is working.
MANNY
Hello Karen.
KAREN
Ugh. What are you doing here, Manny?
MANNY
I had a voice
mail from Angela asking me to stop by.
KAREN
Angela called
you? She didn’t mention that to me.
MANNY
Well, maybe
she doesn’t tell you every minute detail of her life.
KAREN
Maybe not,
but calling you is definitely something she would have mentioned.
MANNY
Is she
in? I have a busy day today and can’t
stay too long.
KAREN
She’s in with
someone right now so you’ll have to wait.
MANNY
You know, I
hope you don’t treat everyone that comes into the hospital this way. Aren’t nurse’s supposed to have a more sunny
disposition.
KAREN
Don’t worry,
Manny. I treat the patients and their families just fine.
It’s you I don’t like.
MANNY
I’ve
apologized to Angela for what happened and I’ve tried to let her move on, even
though it hurts me. What more do you
want from me?
KAREN
I want you to
leave town again. I’m sure that’s your
plan anyway, to leave the second Angela starts feeling something for you again.
MANNY
So are you
saying you think that’s possible? For Angela to care about me like she did before?
KAREN
I’m not
saying that at all, Manny. Angela has
moved on and you are only a distant memory to her now.
MANNY
Which
doesn’t explain why she called me over here.
Perhaps you don’t know your best friend’s feelings as well as you think
you do.
