ANGELA is
talking to KAREN about her secret admirer.
ANGELA
What am I
supposed to do, just walk up to Cyrus and ask him if he’s writing me love
notes?
KAREN
Why not? If he’s psychic, he probably already knows
you suspect him.
ANGELA
Real
funny.
KAREN
He admitted
to us that he has a crush on someone. I
was convinced it was Manny, but now I’m not so sure.
ANGELA
I haven’t
ruled out, Manny, either. If I was going
to confront anyone, it would be him.
KAREN
Angela, I
think it’s best if you just stay away from that guy. He’s already hurt you enough for one
lifetime. I’d hate to see him do it
again.
ANGELA
I
know, you’re right. Manny is the past and I want to focus on my
future. With Brian.
KAREN
Speaking of
Brian, when are you going to see him again?
ANGELA
Any
minute. He’s on his way over here right now.
KAREN
You’re
kidding me? Does this mean I finally get
to meet this guy?
ANGELA
Yes. And I can’t wait to find out what you think.
Brian knocks
and walks in.
BRIAN
Hi there.
ANGELA
Brian. Hi.
I’m glad you found my office.
BRIAN
I only got
lost two or three times.
ANGELA
I want you to
meet my best friend, Karen Grissom.
Karen, this is Brian Morgan.
BRIAN
Hello Karen.
KAREN
Hi
Brian. It’s nice to finally meet you.
BRIAN
You
too. I’ve heard a lot about you from Angela.
KAREN
Hopefully
nothing too scandalous.
BRIAN
No, no, only
good things.
KAREN
Well, I
better get back to the nurse’s station.
Enjoy your visit you two. Angela,
we’ll talk later.
ANGELA
I’m sure.
KAREN
Goodbye,
Brian.
BRIAN
See you again
soon, I hope.
KAREN
I’m sure you
will.
Karen leaves.
BRIAN
So, did I pass
the best friend test?
ANGELA
I don’t
know.
BRIAN
Really?
ANGELA
(laughs)
I’m just
kidding. She loved you, I could tell.
BRIAN
Whew. You had me sweating there for a second.
ANGELA
Oh, come on,
you weren’t really nervous about meeting Karen, were you?
BRIAN
Well, maybe a
little. I really like you if you haven’t
noticed.
ANGELA
I really like
you too, Dr. Morgan.
BRIAN
I swore I’d
never date another doctor, but that was long before I knew there were doctors
like you.
ANGELA
Hey, I swore
off men period, but I think all the hurt I’ve experienced in the past helped
make me who I am today.
BRIAN
And who are
you, Dr. Givens?
ANGELA
I’m a woman
who knows what she wants.
Angela kisses
Brian.
ANGELA
I hope I’m
not being too forward.
BRIAN
Are you
kidding me? I’ve been
wanting to kiss you since the first night we met.
Brian kisses
Angela.
MANNY is
talking to MIRANDA in the family room.
MANNY
Miranda, it’s
lovely to see you again.
MIRANDA
I told you
already that Paul isn’t home. He doesn’t
want to see you, Manny.
MANNY
I’m not here
to Paul, I’m here to see Dante.
MIRANDA
He’s not here
either. He went out of town for a few
days.
MANNY
(getting frustrated)
Is anyone
home then? Besides the
staff?
MIRANDA
No. Ms. Whitman is out, Paul is out, and Dante is
out. And I don’t think Paul would want
you here when he wasn’t at home.
MANNY
I’m a Ramos,
Miranda. I have every right to be here.
MIRANDA
Manny, take
some advice from someone who knows what she’s talking about. Don’t cross Paul again. You’re only going to end up getting hurt.
MANNY
Why Miranda,
I didn’t know you cared.
MIRANDA
I don’t
care. For you anyways.
MANNY
You know, I
always had a sneaking suspicion that you were secretly pining away for my
brother all these years.
MIRANDA
I don’t know
what you’re talking about.
MANNY
Come on,
Miranda, no one’s here now but you and me.
Why don’t you admit it? You have
feelings for Paul that go way beyond employee/employer.
Elijah walks
in.
ELIJAH
What’s going on
in here?
MIRANDA
Elijah.
MANNY
I was just
leaving. Elijah, you’ve really grown
since I was last in town.
ELIJAH
You’re Manny,
right?
MANNY
Yes. Manny Ramos. Good seeing you. Have a nice day, Miranda. Tell Dante I stopped by.
Manny leaves.
ELIJAH
What was that
all about, Mom? What were the two of you
talking about?
MIRANDA
Oh, nothing
son. Manny was just going on about
something. I wasn’t even paying
attention to him.
CAROLINE is
working at her desk when PAUL walks in unannounced.
PAUL
I had a
feeling you’d still be working.
CAROLINE
Oh God. What do you want, Paul?
PAUL
I came to
give you a message. If I wanted you
dead, you’d be dead.
